KATSINA STATE GOV’T ENTERS $1 MILLION DOLLAR BILATERAL AGREEMENT TO BRING DEV’T

The Katsina State Government would spend 1million US dollars in the bilateral agreement it has entered with an agency of the United Nations – UN Habitat .
In a statement signed by Director- General, Media and Publicity, the agreement indicated that it was for the execution of developmental projects which would cover the upgrade of 10 local government into urban communities for socio-economic development.
The agreement between the state government and the UN agency was formally signed today at Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia .
The State Commissioner of Land and Surveys, Alhaji Sada Ilu who represented Governor Aminu Bello Masari during the signing of the agreement made this known via a telephone interview.
He said the agreement also covers some vital areas which include city profiling in 10 local governments with a view to making them more cosmopolitan in nature and the , slum upgrade of the historical inner walls of Katsina city that would serve as antiquities to posterity” stressing the project would add glamour to the ancient city .
He said other parte of the agreement were the establishment of befitting youth resource centers across the three senatorial zones of Katsina, Funtua and Daura as well as capacity building for stakeholders on urban development.
The Special Adviser on International Governmental Affairs, Alhaji Sada Ilu, Special Adviser on Youth Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalil and General Manager, State Housing Authourity, Alhaji Salisu Ahmad, State Director Ecological and the General Manager of the Katsina Urban and Regional Planning Board, Alhaji Unman Nadada.
The Katsina State government would establish cotton and tomato processing companies in collaboration with foreign partners.
