DITTO in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah; when Lot went to the center of the Twin Cities with a bullhorn and announced thus: “This place is about to be destroyed by God, because of the sins of the people,” they laughed him to scorn too. Even his future sons-in-law didn’t believe him. “So, Lot went out and said to his future sons-in-law who were pledged to marry his daughters, “Hurry and leave this city! The Lord is about to destroy it!” But they thought Lot was joking” (Genesis 19:14). A sister called me from Georgia requesting for prayer to secure employment. The Holy Spirit told me to put her on three-day regimen of prayer and fasting, including certain scriptural activities and then instructed her to plant a seed to demonstrate her faith and trust in Him for a good job. The sister scorned the commandment and she is still unemployed as at the time of this writing.
Another unemployed man in Dallas called and the Holy Spirit gave the same instructions. The latter complied and called back three weeks later with a testimony. “The same place my application was earlier rejected called me and hired me,” he told me on the phone. Why does the Lord God Almighty often insist we should sow money as a seed as a demonstration of our faith, trust and obedience to Him? Our Lord Jesus Christ answered that question off-pat: “Wherever your treasure is, there is your heart also,” Matthew 6:21).
The NLT renders it plainly: “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” The Lord God Almighty knows the power of money and material things in the affairs of human beings. Money is not a creation of the Lord God Almighty. Satan created money in the world. Satan and his demons use money as fiduciary gods and goddesses among humans; thus, money has become a demonic tool in the hands of fallen spiritual forces to steal the souls of men and women from God. Because the Almighty God and Satan are poaching for the souls of humans, the former knows the way we spend our money determines our trust and faith. That is why our Lord Jesus Christ disclosed the obvious: “…you cannot serve both God and money” (Matthew 6:24). Believe me, Money is a god that some people worship. The moment you can walk away from him, so he will not rule over you, you have conquered money. It is not the amount of money that we have that determines its sway over us, but our attitude to it as an indispensable possession. Money isn’t compulsory in life, but only necessary.
The Holy Spirit has a markedly different approach to money, as compared with other blessings of the Lord God Almighty on earth such as; longevity, wisdom, fertility, success, marital bliss, marriage, spiritual warfare/victory, divine health etc. Most of the blessings of God are appropriated by prayers, but the Lord God Almighty in His manifold wisdom hasn’t prescribed prayers for financial blessings. In other words, He instructed me never to pray for money in my life and I stick to that commandment.
Similarly, He instructed me never to pray for anyone for financial success, because He-the Holy Spirit-didn’t create money. Prayer is asking the Lord God Almighty to do what He has promised, and since He didn’t create money on the earth, He didn’t prescribe prayer in His Word for money-making. And I searched throughout the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation and found nowhere prayer was needed for financial success. The commandment of God for His children for financial success is one word: “Give” (Luke 6:38).
The Lord God Almighty instructed me one day to plant a financial seed I had never done in my entire life. I demurred, because it was so big in my eyes, but reluctantly complied. My wife looked at me, as if we were both out of our minds for sowing such a large financial seed. I will never forget that financial breakthrough in my life; 21 days later, the Lord God Almighty surprised us beyond our wildest dreams. He gave us a financial breakthrough that was more than our annual household income, Hallelujah! So, I asked the Lord: “Why don’t Your children get this secret?” The Holy Spirit replied: “My people don’t trust Me that I am capable of blessing them financially beyond their wildest dreams, so they don’t trust Me and by extension don’t love Me with their money.”
The amazing thing about God’s Law is that, it works for anyone, including unbelievers, who fulfill its requirements and put it into operation.
Have you ever wondered why those who aren’t Christians, who do not even worship our God, but engage in philanthropy and generous giving are stupendously rich? I noticed this while growing up in my native town of Owo, Ondo State with my late uncle; a Moslem, Alhaji Tijani Dauda. I was a Moslem and I saw firsthand how the Law of God as far as financial success works, irrespective of your belief. He would instruct us in those days to prepare food, especially on Fridays after Juma’at Service meant for beggars, blind and the handicapped, homeless and the poor. He didn’t joke with zakat and zadaqat as taught by the Other Side. I couldn’t understand why He did all these charity and alms giving acts during his lifetime. I thought he was showing-off, until I became a born-again Christian and was shown the secret by the Holy Spirit.
My late uncle was very rich going by the standard of my native town, so I asked the Holy Spirit one day: “My late uncle and those in his religion do not worship You, yet he was very rich, where did the blessings and financial success of people like him come from? Certainly not from Satan and his demons?” The Holy Spirit replied me straight away: “Yes, you’re right, that all good and perfect gifts come from Me, according to My words (James 1:17). The riches and money came from Me too, according to My words (Matthew 5:45), because all My blessings have requirements and will be appropriated by any human I created that fulfills the requirements attached to the blessings.”
Leafing through the Book of Life, from Genesis to Revelation, the word: “if” permeated through all the blessings of the Lord God Almighty, both personal and corporate blessings. Yes, Papa Abraham is often referred to as the father of faith, which he was, but he did something practical to demonstrate his faith and trust in God. “Sometime later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love-Isaac-and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you…” (Genesis 22:1-3).
We know the whole story but what the Lord God Almighty said thereafter after Abraham passed the test was highly instructive in Genesis 22: 12c: “Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Did it mean that the Lord God Almighty didn’t know that Abraham feared the Lord before this incident? Yes, the Lord God Almighty didn’t know, until He tested Abraham and Abraham “proved” to the Lord that he trusted and had faith in God through his obedience. If you think the Lord God Almighty would do anything for you without faith, trust and obedience to His instructions and commandments, you’re living in a fool’s paradise.
A sister called me recently for prayer for a particular blessing and I told her what to do as instructed by the Holy Spirit. When I told her to sow a financial seed, she began to argue. I told her matter-of-factly the instructions I received. She eventually complied. “Dr, I am glad I listened to you,” she told me later in her testimony. “Do you know that the exact amount down to the cents was what I received as my tax refunds after I sowed the financial seed?” Some people have missed their blessings, especially financial breakthrough, because of flouting the instructions of the Holy Spirit. Of course, there are many religious racketeers and false prophets around these days, just as we have fake professors, false professionals, false and adulterated petrol. As Apostle Peter disclosed in 2 Peter 2:1 “There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.” But just because we have false adulterated products in the market does not mean we do not have genuine products as well, but there are also genuine and true men and women of God.
Financial success and other blessings of God have conditions as revealed in the Word of Life. In Exodus 19:3-5, we read: “Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if (emphasis mine) you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ Do you see that word: if” in that scripture? The blessings and prophecies of God are not inevitable, but possibilities, if the requirements attached to such blessings are met. More than 33 times, the word: “If” was used on all the blessings of God Almighty in His Inerrant Words: Exodus 19:5: (“And now, if you will diligently listen to me and keep my covenant, then you will be my special possession out of all the nations, for all the earth is mine…”). Leviticus 26:3-5 (‘” If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments
I will give you your rains in their time so that the land will give its yield and the trees of the field will produce their fruit…”). Deuteronomy 11:13-15 (“Now, if you pay close attention to my commandments that I am giving you today and love the LORD your God and serve him with all your mind and being, then he promises, “I will send rain for your land in its season, the autumn and the spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine, and olive oil. I will provide pasture for your livestock and you will eat your fill.” John 14:15: (“If you love me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever.”). This compulsory word: If” prefixed all the prophecies and blessings of the True Lord God Almighty when He speaks through His genuine prophets and the truly called. Even in the work of salvation, there is one requirement: John 3: 16 is the only requirement, period! The “if” qualifier in that career-defining and eternal-defining verse is “whosoever” will give his or her life to the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved.
