EKITI State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday at the hallowed chamber of the Ekiti State House of Assembly presented a #98.6b budget to the assembly members.
Tagged Budget of Accomplishment, the budget which is 6% above that of 2017 has 32.1% allocation for capital and 67.9% for recurrent expenditure.
Highlighting his achievements in the outgoing year, Mr. Fayose said his government ensured Ekiti was not plunged into further indebtedness through loans and other unnecessary commitments. He boasted that his government has been able to improve teachers’ performance without harassing them.
Lamenting that executive arm of government since creation of the state has not deemed it fit to provide an official quarter for Speaker of the House, Fayose promised to hand over to the legislature a Speaker’s Residence within the next three months.
The governor used occasion of the budget presentation to state precisely when ongoing projects in the state will be delivered. “This budget is majorly for me to complete all ongoing projects, the High Court Complex will be handed over to Ekiti people by the last week of March 2018, the Governor’s office will be commissioned in April, the Flyover will be opened for use in May while the Ultra-Modern King’s Market will be commissioned in the first week of July 2018”, Fayose said.
On his Stomach Infrastructure Programme, Mr. Fayose said his government will continue to pay a monthly stipend of #5000 to 10,000 people in the state while 15,000 women in the state will be paid #20,000 each in 2018.
Earlier in his welcome address, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Pastor Kola Oluwawole assured the people of Ekiti that the 5th Assembly will never shy away from its responsibility and oversight functions. Oluwawole appealed to the executive to make available for the legislative arm a befitting administrative block, he also asked for the provision of a 200KVA generator in addition to the landscaping of the Assembly Complex.
Governor Fayose thanked Ekiti Assembly members, members of the executive, Security agencies, Royal Fathers without whose cooperation he said his administration would not have had a smooth sail.
